The Tuesday Trick or Treat

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It's the time of ghosts, pumpkins and terrible Halloween puns. The latter of which I am extremely guilty of... It's also the time of CREEPY BOOKS.
One of which has blown up recently. (I'm talking about Stephen King's 'It', by the way. Pennywise has burned himself into my nightmares, bless him). Back to the subject of creepy books, I'm doing a book tag! Again! As you might have guessed due to the extensive foreshadowing in my last post. ForeSHADOWING... Geddit? HAHAHAHAH HA... ha.

The book tag is... Drumroll, please...
The Top Ten most spine-chilling book quotes!

Halloween + Books = NIGHTMARES. Really articulate nightmares. The best kind to have.

TOP TEN:
BLOOD-CURDLING EDITION

Here you go, a little package of haunting dreams:

1. "They float, it growled, they float, Georgie, and when you’re down here with me, you’ll float, too–"
It by Stephen King
This is the stuff nightmares are made of. This.

2.  "I've been buried, but I'm not dead. I'm not dead."
The Fall by Bethany Griffin
Well, whoever you're planning on haunting, have fun.

3. "With a mocking smile, he placed one hand upon my shoulder and, holding me tight, bared my throat with the other, saying as he did so: "First, a little refreshment to reward my exertions."
Dracula by Bram Stoker
A refreshment, indeed. Lovely.

4. "The long black hair becomes coarse strings, like oily weeds. The skin turns gray. The teeth. The teeth."
Exquisite Captive by Heather Demetrios
The teeth... The model set you see in dentists' offices. The decayed one on the desk. Yes, that one.

5. "A woman stood in the kitchen with her back to Coraline. She looked a little like Coraline’s mother. Only . . .
Only her skin was white as paper.
Only she was taller and thinner.
Only her fingers were too long, and they never stopped moving, and her dark red fingernails were curved and sharp.
"Coraline?" the woman said. "Is that you?"
And then she turned around. Her eyes were big black buttons."
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Definitely not Coraline's mother.

6. "His eyes had slid from Harry's face to something else. His own silver fingers were moving inexorably toward his own throat."
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling
Because you can't have a halloween post without Harry Potter. Also, raise your wands for Lily and James Potter. It was today in 1981.

7. "Their blood is a threat, a warning, a promise. We are not the same and never will be."
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Not the most hair-raising. But BLOOD. And I like Red Queen too much.

8. "A cold hand fell on Louis's shoulder. Rachel's voice was grating, full of dirt 'Darling' it said."
Pet Sematary by Stephen King
Because it's Stephen King. Word wizard.

9. "I think of her again. Anna. Anna Dressed in Blood. I wonder what tricks she'll try. I wonder if she'll be clever. Will she float? Will she laugh or scream?
How will she try to kill me?"
Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
Don't think of her again, or of the tricks she'll try. Especially not of how she'll kill you.

10. "My nightmares were made of darker things."
The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd
After reading this, whose wouldn't be?

Did I scare you? Do you sense nightmares? How many times have I said 'nightmares' so far?
If it's a tag you'd like to do, you're tagged!
And a huge congratulations to Cait @ Paper Fury on her book deal!

Your turn! Are you terrified? Any creepy book quotes you know? Spook me with some of your own!

Happy reading!

And I love these quotes!! I really want to read IT because I haven't read any Stephan King but I saw the trailer and when they all started screaming "YOU'LL FLOAT TOO" I'm like: yes I need to read this. 😂 And see it. But book first, right?!
