We have a guest today! YAY! Who is it, you ask? WELL... The fabulous Cait from Paper Fury, of course! YOU READ THAT RIGHT. Am I excited? YES! Are you excited? DUH.
Cait is here to reveal all... Why she loves books, writing and CAKE. Yup. Cake.
It's a blogger interview featuring Cait from Paper Fury!
Thank you for joining us, Cait!
Let's get started!
A little bit about myself:
Hello! My name is Cait and I'm a rabid lover of books and a cake enthusiast.
A little more about my blog:
My blog is basically where I shout about my favourite books because apparently people don't appreciate that talent of mine in real life. So odd, I know.
Three words that best describe my blog:
Colourful. Humourous. Wild.
I decided to start my book blog because...
My older sister told me too. And if you've ever had an older sister, you 100% know that you say YES to their decrees if you want to live. (I'm kidding! My sister is super nice). It started off as a writing/travel blog but merged into books, because what can I say? I'm totally obsessed with books. BOOKS ARE MY LIFE.
The bloggers that inspired me and still do today...
I'm constantly inspired by Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight for her hilariousness and captivating posts. And Emily @ Loony Literate for being so entirely fabulous. (Plus she has glorious bookish photography skills, omg).
My first impression of the blogging community...
It was basically; "LOOK I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE TOTALLY OBSESSED WITH BOOKS. THESE ARE MY PEOPLE." They are good people. I highly recommend sneaking into the book blogging community and living there forever.
My best blogging moment...
Rick Riordan shared my review of Magnus Chase on his actual blog. So, 'scuse me. I AM DEAD.
The book that changed my life...
The Hunger Games actually started me reading YA, so, basically, it's to blame for all of this. It also changed my life in the respect that I didn't know A BOOK COULD MURDER YOUR FEELINGS LIKE THAT. Congratulations, The Hunger Games, I am a mess.
A popular book series I haven't read yet...
I've never tried the I Am Number Four series by Pittacus Lore. Whoops.
The book I thought was not worth my time...
I, unfortunately, died of boredom while reading Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. Much cover love, though, because yessss, ships.
My favourite book: (THIS IS CRUEL). The Scorpio Races!
My favourite author: Maggie Stiefvater. 1000%.
My favourite genre: Fantasy.
My favourite series: The Raven Cycle!
My favourite place to read: Collapsed on my bed. (Once I fight with my dog for space, because apparently, what's mine, is his??? Sheesh).
My favourite book blog: It Starts At Midnight and Loony Literate.
My favourite quote from a book: “I lived in books more than I lived anywhere else.”
Neil Gaiman, The Ocean at the End of the Lane.
I would rather read...
Fiction or non-fiction: Fiction.
In brightness or in dim: Brightness! I must preserve these precious eyeballs of mine.
Snuggled up in bed or out in the garden: IN BED OF COURSE. Why would one go outside??? Omg, no.
On a rainy day or a starry night: Rainy day, since outside is a no-go, we've established.
With piping hot coffee or a cheesy slice of pizza: Coffee! I cannot eat and read because I'm too scared I'll smudge the book. Pizza is great. Tomato sauce stains on book pages look awfully suspicious. #ISwearNobodyDiedHere.
My favourite movie adaptation of a book: Catching Fire felt like an absolutely flawless adaption. So, so close to the book! Although, The Book Thief comes a close second.
Given a chance to make a book-based movie, I would choose the book: I think A Darker Shade of Magic would make a monstrously epic movie.
My ideal leading star cast for this movie would be: I don't know! I don't actually know many actors or have favourites.
The book I wish was never adapted into a movie: Well, they successfully mangled Percy Jackson, didn't they? But I think it should be re-done, but this time with animation!
My blogging goals for the future: Rule the world. Be famous. Lead an army to conquer Jupiter. All the average kind of goals.
My advice/tips to aspiring book bloggers: Interact with your audience! Reach out and make friends! If you're not getting much traffic, it's probably because no one knows you exist. So, definitely let them know. Also, bribe them with cake and dragons. 10/10. Would recommend since cake works every time.
And finally, my sign off note...
Thank you so much for having me!
