Synopsis: SPOILER ALERT! IF YOU HAVEN'T READ RED QUEEN, SKIP OVER THE SYNOPSIS.
The second book in the Red Queen series picks up just after Mare and Cal's victory in the Arena. On their quest to find and recruit newbloods for their growing army, Mare and her allies give their all to building and strengthening the soldiery. Newly crowned king, Maven, is the biggest obstacle in their path. Will they reach their destination before he does or will they forever live as fugitives and never rise, red as the dawn?
Review: Erm... Glass Sword didn't exactly live up to my expectations. I started with a 'this is an easy 4 stars' mindset. That evolved like this:
Chapters 1-6: AHJDSKLAGH. I'LL GIVE YOU 5 STARS RIGHT AWAY.
Chapters 7-12: Do you even want those 5 stars?
Chapters 13-18: Make something happen. Now would be a good time.
Chapters 19-24: I shall put you down forever if you keep doing this to me.
Chapters 25+: Thank you. Too late now, though. 3 is all you get.
This is a book that deserves a Pros and Cons list. Because how else do you un-confuse yourself?
But did the second half of the book make me want to read Red Queen's third instalment? YES. YES. YES.
Final plot twists and impactful endings are a great way to end a book. Sneak peeks help too.
